This is the most basic of lessons on sound in movies. Sound–music, sound effects, dialogue, and voiceover–is an overlooked part of movie criticism and even basic judgments about movies. This video will help you listen a bit better to movies than you already have. Included in the video are discussions about film music, composers, and the difference that music makes when it’s played over a movie. I will introduce you to the terms “diegetic” and “non-diegetic” sound.
