Why do movies use zoom-ins and zoom-outs? Did you know that they usually mean something very important? They manipulate you. How do they do that? This video shows you a couple of common meanings for both zoom-ins and zoom-outs. I’ll show you examples from Stagecoach, The Dark Knight Rises, Young Frankenstein, Barry Lyndon, and more. This video is also part of my “Understanding Movies” series, which helps teach people about the basics of film grammar and movie criticism.
