What is a cut for in movies and videos? Some students don’t know, so this video will show you what they are. Several examples are used, including “The Tree of Life,” “Dunkirk,” “Dark City,” and “Toy Story 2.”

I also argue that movies are not inherently stories, but instead they are just a collection of images in a sequence. The story of a movie is created by you the viewer. Cuts in movies imply connections and associations, and you the viewer make the connections, thus finding meaning in movies.
