Most people view the great 1993 movie “Groundhog Day” as one about how to live a good life.

It is about that, but there’s a lot more going on in it. One of those things is that the movie discusses A.I. and algorithmic learning — not directly, but subtly. The video above is my interpretative essay on Groundhog Day and the era of algorithms, in which I discuss the movie’s relationship to machine-learning and videogames.
